Toploaders and penny sleeves, explained.
What a toploader does
A toploader is a rigid plastic holder that protects a trading card from bending, corner dings, and surface wear. Our 3"×4" 35pt toploaders fit standard 2.5"×3.5" cards — Pokémon, Magic: The Gathering, Yu-Gi-Oh!, hockey, and baseball cards — and pair with a soft sleeve for the two-layer protection most collectors use for storage, trades, and shipping.
Penny sleeves vs. soft sleeves
Penny sleeve and soft sleeve are two names for the same thing: a thin polypropylene sleeve that goes on the card first, before the toploader. Easy Glide sleeves are acid-free and archival-safe, with a patent-pending pre-cut corner that stops corner dings while sleeving. Sold in cases of 10,000 for shops and high-volume collectors.
Why buy by the case
Case quantities bring the per-unit cost down to pennies — 2.3¢ per sleeve and 14¢ per fully protected card at current prices. Cases ship from a Canadian warehouse, priced in CAD, with no duty, brokerage, or currency conversion at checkout.
Common questions
What size cards fit a 35pt toploader?
Standard 2.5"×3.5" trading cards up to 35 points thick — the regular thickness for Pokémon, Magic: The Gathering, Yu-Gi-Oh!, hockey, and baseball cards. Thicker cards, such as patch or memorabilia cards, need a higher point rating.
Are penny sleeves and soft sleeves the same thing?
Yes. "Penny sleeve" is the hobby's nickname for a thin soft sleeve. Easy Glide sleeves are standard-size penny sleeves made from acid-free, archival-safe polypropylene with a pre-cut corner for faster sleeving.
Do you charge duty or brokerage on Canadian orders?
No. Every case ships from a warehouse inside Canada, so orders never cross a border — no duty, no brokerage fees, and no currency conversion. Prices are in Canadian dollars.
Should I sleeve a card before putting it in a toploader?
Yes. The soft sleeve protects the card's surface and corners; the toploader provides rigid protection. Sleeve first, then slide the sleeved card into the toploader — that's why our Essentials case pairs 1,000 toploaders with 1,000 sleeves.
